Tapestry panel from Oudenaarde (Flanders) end of XVI° Beginning of XVII°. Falcon hunting. Wool and silk
This tapestry depicts a falcon hunt. In a green undergrowth, a horseman, riding a richly harnessed noble steed, and a pedestrian, both dressed in rich finery, showing their noble extractions, indulge in the joys of the hunt. Dressed in bloomers, booted, in a cape, and wearing feathered headgear, armed with swords, they let loose with their gloved hands a hawk attacking two green collars. A salesman dressed in an armoured chasuble leads a pack of dogs. A fortified city looms on the horizon, on the mountainside. Lateral borders with a composition of flowers and fruits.
Height: 260; Width: 230cm. Two borders at the top and bottom are missing. Restorations
