CALENDAR of the Court, for the year 1829. Paris, Le Doux-Hérissant, (1829). In-18, green mar., gilt roulette in frame with fleur-de-lys, gilt coat of arms in the center, smooth spine decorated mute, gilt tr. (Rel. ep.). To the arms of Charles X, joined to Navarre. Charles-Philippe de France (1757-1836), grandson of Louis XV, Count of Artois, emigrated from 1789 to 1814; he became leader of the ultra-royalist party and succeeded Louis XVIII in 1824 under the name of Charles X, but abdicated in 1830 and took refuge in England. "Charles X possessed a considerable library, part of which, consisting mainly of plays, is now in the National Library; before ascending to the throne, he had already bought the famous library of the Marquis de Paulmy, who later entered the Arsenal in its entirety". "Characteristic of the irons of the bindings of Charles X is the addition of the bonnet inside the crown and the arms of Navarre, which were added to the arms of France, especially towards the end of the reign, when the traditions of the old monarchy were taken over."
