Nice atypical sword from the Revolution / early Empire period. Strong 760mm long Montmorency style blade, blued in the third, decorated with trophies of arms, crown and braided foliage enhanced with gold gilding. Signature with ricasso in cursive letters "Schimmelbusch & Sohn" on one side and "In Soligen" on the other. The water blue of the blade has turned liver or amber in places. Superb wooden rocket mount dressed with a filigree of fine copper wires lined with a filigree with a thicker wire with inverted chevrons. Straight guard branch joining the cruise at right angle. Profile of the guard branch with four sides decorated with a series of beads in relief on the outside. Scrolled quillon. Lion-headed pommel, long tail cap decorated with a scarlet medlar tree. In its leather sheath with three brass trimmings decorated with a line and cut out as an embrace. (1)
