Succession of Mr. X Type: 250 cc Monoalbero Frame n°0708 Motor no. 0708 French car registration document Giovanni Parrilla, born in Mantua, began his career in Milan as a mechanic, but he soon realised his dream by building a motorcycle. As early as 1946, a Parilla (with only one "R") stands out by threatening the Guzzi in their stronghold at the Lecco circuit. There is nothing original about this machine, even if the simple bevel gear driven shaft is not yet very common in Italy. Small series production began in the winter of 1947 with racing or sports versions with road equipment like the one shown. Let's get down to business In 1948, Parrilla entrusted the development of a double tree to Giuseppe Salmaggi, to whom we already owe the Gilera Saturno. This time it was a pure racing machine, with magnesium housings, which won out over the single ACT Guzzi Albatros on its first outing. Salmaggi left shortly afterwards for Rumi, but that didn't stop the Parilla from shining on all the Italian and even German circuits, thanks to Roland Schnell's preparations. The 250 double tree, double Italian champion in 1950, won two victories in the Milan-Tarente, in 1950 and 1952, with the Piero brothers and then Celeste Cavaciuti. Transfer on four wheels The development of the machine would continue until 1956 after Salmaggi's return, but an international career was never seriously considered. On the basis of these successes, Giovanni Parrilla will simply launch a slightly wider commercial production, with less noble models and almost always reserved for the domestic market. He will sell his company in 1967, it now manufactures kart engines. The model presented is a rare 250 mono albero matching numbers. We thank Mr François-Marie Dumas for his help concerning the general description of the model. We remind buyers that the entire collection is made up of motorcycles that have remained static in the private museu
