A suite of four mahogany armchairs with flat, rounded, openwork backs decorated with a spray pattern and interlaced circles, the armrest supports in baluster, the seat entirely covered in English style resting on tapered fluted feet at the front and sabre feet at the rear. Louis XVI period. H : 96 cm, W : 57 cm (restorations notably on the backrests and several crossbars redone). A pair of comparable armchairs with similar back, armrests and feet were made for Mr. Trudaine's dining room (Sotheby's Paris sale, June 18, 1999, lot 138). It is probably Charles-Louis Trudaine (1765-1794).
