"Vue du Lac de Saint-Ferréol", Revel, 2017. Photography. Ferrotype made in 2017, unique piece, signed, titled, dated in ink on the back by the author. 25 x 20 cm.
Israel Ariño (Spanish, born in 1974) builds a work full of obsessions around disappearance, chance, travel or dream. His mastery of photography and the art of printing allows him to create a universe that carries within it as many evocations of the marvellous, so much in his images the ordinary takes the place of the extraordinary.
Exhibited regularly in Europe, his works are part of numerous collections, including the Musée de l'Élysée in Lausanne, the Museum of Contemporary Art in Barcelona, the National Library of France and the Neuflize Collection.
Israel Ariño experimented with many ancient processes, such as ambrotype or salted paper printing. With this ferrotype, he immortalizes Lake Saint-Ferréol while it is empty, which happens every 10 years.
