History
The Stroganov School was founded in Moscow by Count Sergei Grigoryevich Stroganov in 1825 and officially became the Stroganov Imperial Institute for Industrial Arts in 1901 when it was placed under the patronage of the Empress' sister, Grand Duchess Elisabeth (1864-1918). The Institute's copper workshop opened its doors in 1902, where students followed an 8-year course and were encouraged to create their own style in addition to copying famous works.
