MONET (Clau de). Autograph letter signed. Giverny, April 9, 1922. 1 p 3/4 in-8 "Dear Sir, I inform you that this morning I received a letter from Mr. Paul Léon [Director of Fine Arts] announcing his coming with his notary, for next Wednesday 12 c[ouran]t between 2 and 3 h[eur]es in Giverny, and that your fellow-member must agree with you for this meeting in Giverny, which meeting, I think, will be followed by the signature of the deed at your office. Please accept, dear Sir, the expression of my distinguished sentiments... "Claude Monet offered his Water Lilies to the State after the Victory of 1918, but the negotiations took a long time, and the installation at the Orangery could only be done after his death in 1927.
