"Danseurs" (La Fête), c. 1952-1954. Oil on canvas. 80.5 x 128 cm.
This is one of the first paintings of Niki de Saint Phalle who, after being hospitalized for six weeks in Nice's psychiatric hospital, decided to devote her life to painting. The American artist Hugh Weiss encouraged the spontaneity of her first experiments as a self-taught artist. The canvas already attest to her compositional rtalents and her love of color.
