CASTRO Roland (architect) Meeting RC Sketch on tracing paper 29,7x42cm 26/10/2011 Original signed Meeting report Sketch on tracing paper 29,7x42cm 26/10/2011 A thinker of the city, an architect, an author, a professor and a committed citizen at the same time, he was a major figure in May 1968 and in 1970 founded Vive la Révolution, which led to the creation of the MLF and the FHAR. In the 1980s, he launched the Banlieue 89 movement, author of the first Grand Paris with Michel Cantal Dupart, which made him a chargé de mission of the Prime Minister in 1983, then in 1988, a Delegate for the Renovation of the Suburbs. In 1990, at his request, François Mitterrand created the Ministry of the City and founded the Ecole des Hautes Etudes Urbaine. Inventor of urban remodelling, we can see that in all the districts he remodelled there were no riots in 2005. In 2002 with Cyril Aouizerate, he launched the Concrete Utopia Movement, and is a candidate in the 2007 presidential election. His determination to think about Greater Paris made him the winner of the Nicolas Sarkozy consultation in 2007, from which many reflections in the form of the "Chemins de l'Urbanité" (Paths of Urbanity) resulted, and in 2018, he was entrusted by the President of the Republic Emmanuel Macron with a mission to deliver a report on Greater Paris, "From Greater Paris to Greater Paris" before being commissioned by Mrs. Hidalgo and Mr. Ollier to move from reflection to the implementation of the Grand Pairs. He was responsible, among other things, for the comic book museum in Angoulême and Habiter le Ciel in Aubervilliers. All his work revolves around the right to urbanity.
