Beautiful 19th century violin probably made by Charles GAILLARD bearing a label "Gaillard, Luthier, Eleve de Bernardel de Paris". Back of a piece in beautiful maple with regular waves. Ribs and head of the same wood. Top in spruce with tight pores in the center, widening on the edges. Beautiful orange-red brown varnish on a gilded background. Breakage. 358 mm.
