Remarkable English naval officer's writing case in flamed mahogany, with threads, keyhole and brass cartouche.
Inside it has five compartments with lids designed in particular to hold inkwells and pens.
The writing surface is in embossed fawn leather with a double frame, the first with a Greek frieze motif and the second with a gilded floral decoration containing four fleurons in the corners. Two large compartments hidden under the writing surface, one of which closes with a latch.
Complete with its original key.
English work from the first half of the 19th century.
Very slight slits in the lower right corner of the lid and a slight lack of veneer in the same place.
Superb overall condition
