The Electric Light. Universal Journal of Electricity [becomes] Electric Light. Weekly review of electrical, mechanical, thermal transformations of energy. Paris éditeurs divers 1891-1908 45 vol, gr. in-8° (n.c.). Half-brown or green half-brown of the period, numbering of the spines in Roman or Arabic numerals (+/- rubbed, dusty, qqs damaged backs, qqs split jaws, 1 detached dish, etc.). Incomplete series of this review which appeared under various titles from 1879 to 1917, with supplements until 1933. We have under the title "La lumière électrique", t. 41, 1891 and t. 52, 1894. Founder and director: Cornelius Herz (1845-1898), a doctor interested in galvanism and a businessman. - Under the title "Electric Light", ts. 11, 13-21, 23-28, 30-34, 39-53, 1897-1907, with ts. 15, 17, 18, 19, 20 in duplicate but containing a paginated supplement in Roman numerals. - Under the same title, new series, vols. I-IV, 1908. Among the scientific directors of this journal, we note e.g. the mathematician and physicist Henri Poincaré (1854-1912) and the physicist Gabriel Lippmann (1845-1921), Nobel Prize for Physics in 1908.
