"M. Daux has plated a young girl standing on a strawberry-coloured drapery that has been crushed. This very dangerous background turned her brown more than usual and took away some of her natural freshness. But she has a very pure curvature; her teenage body has two charming lines, one very wavy and the other almost straight. The latter, unless there is better advice, should be a little more inward looking. But the picture is young and laughing, and if I had any rewards in my pocket, I would not fail to offer one to Mr. Daux".
