"San Vicente de la Barquera" 28 x 35 cms. We thank Mr. Juan San Nicolás, for his collaboration in the cataloguing of this lot. Regoyos in 1910 when he was living in Las Arenas in Bilbao decided to spend the month of July with his family in Ontaneda, staying at Isidro Mártinez's house, where he went on various artistic excursionsFrom Colindres to Asturias, arriving at LLanes, Ribadesella and the Monastery of San Antolín de Bedón, he stopped at San Vicente de la Barquera where years before (in 1905) he had been, there he carried out several oil paintings among which is this one. He called it "Pueblo de la Costa Cantábrica" (Town of the Cantabrian Coast), and on the back there is the seal of the Association of Basque Artists, testimony of havingparticipated in exhibitions organized by that association. Later his widow named him San Vicente de la Barquera. The first and only owner of this work acquired it in 1915 from the painter's widow together with a very important lot of works by this artist, making him the largest collector of works by this artist that has ever existed.
