Magnificent original red cloth enc. with black ornamental prints on the plane and spine, with the title and author in gold on the plane and spine, top of the spine slightly grazed, enc. signed with a label: 'Bound by Leighton Son and Hodge'. Stamps by Bib. I. I. Expurgated. Very good state of preservation. First illustrated edition. Samuel Langhorne Clemens, known by the pseudonym of Mark Twain (1835- 1910), was a popular American writer, speaker and humorist.
