Bibliography:
This project was intended to decorate the City Hall of Quimper rebuilt after a fire after the First World War. Finally the commission was entrusted to the painter Charles Godeby (1866-1952), curator of the Musée des beaux-arts de Quimper from 1922. Inaugurated in 1928, it consists of nine large canvases, in groups of three, under which, year by year, the lists of heroes who died for their country are drawn up.
