This Anglo-American sports car from the 1960s-1970s is one of the most fascinating and famous in automotive history. It was born from the crazy idea of Caroll Shelby, a Texas driver who, having stopped racing in 1960, at the age of 37, for health reasons, developed an American car capable of beating the Ferraris in the GT category. His quest for a chassis brought him to AC, an English firm that builds sports cars in small quantities. The Cobra quickly showed its potential on the American circuits, especially against the much heavier Chevrolet Corvette. Its success is immediate, the Cobra will win it all ...the Cobra myth is born !!!! Starting in 1965, Shelby launches the Cobra 427 with a chassis whose diameter of the two master tubes increases from 3 to 4 inches, wider tracks, fenders inflated to accommodate wider tires, and above all, new suspensions, with stacked arms and combined springs/dampers, replacing the transverse leaf springs of the 289. It's equipped with a 427 cubic-inch, 7-litre V8 engine that develops 410 hp and significant torque for a fairly low weight. The most powerful version of the car will reach 485 hp.
