Condition of use
Seat with four legs connected by a double spacer with a figurative history (characters, fishing scenes, millet looting, animals, etc.).
The two front legs are decorated with carved caryatids supporting the square leather-covered seat. The backrest is decorated in its centre with a hieratic human figure flanked by two similar figures engraved in relief. Two female figures surmount the two ends of the backrest. The leather seat has pronounced marks of use.
Throne for royal prestige. The small sculptures represent the areas of social and ritual life in which the chief intervenes.
Late replacement object, when the original was sold, harvested, stolen or destroyed, often made by the same sculptor as the original, this object was used.
