Lot of six riders Sao Kotoko Chad Brass Various measurements, from H.: 7 cm. to H.: 9 cm. Small statuettes with stylized lines representing one or two riders on a horse with a dignified and slender posture, the horse's head forming a scroll. Fine details: twisted reins, conical headdress, shield in relief. It was in the region southwest of the shores of Lake Chad, home to the very ancient and powerful Sao civilization, that a group of such figurines was discovered, generally considered to be one of the last expressions of Sao culture. Objects made specifically for colonial trade with obvious decorative interest. Consultant : Jean-Pierre LACOSTE
