Compoint - Sale in Paris, Me Guy Loudmer, May 24th 1992, n°3. Certificate of authenticity from Marina Ferretti, co-author of the artist's catalogue raisonné, dated October 23, 2020. Bibliography: "Signac 1863 1935" catalogue of the Grand Palais exhibition of 2001, to be compared with a very close watercolour entitled "Bayonne" of 1929. On 13 March 1927 Signac wrote: "I work like a young man (...) watercolours, I struggle with the wind, the tide, the current and the sails, the oil painter is deprived of these jousts" (letter to F. Fénéon, Signac archives).
