HERGÉ.- MARTIN, Jacques. Typed letter headed "Hergé dessinateur", dated February 13, 1952, signed G[eorges] Remi and addressed to Jacques Martin. 1 f. of 29.5 x 20.5 cm (paper completely faded and pinkish). In this letter, Hergé acknowledges receipt of the plates of the car made by Jacques Martin for the Journal Tintin. He also mentions "the pencil drawings of Mr Jacobs" and asks Jacques Martin to examine the drawings of the Marine series as a specialist of Antiquity "to see if there are not too serious errors and catastrophic omissions". Jacques Martin wrote and illustrated the columns on aviation and automobiles that appeared regularly in the early years of the Journal Tintin from 1948 to 1953. Attached is a 2-page handwritten letter from Philippe Delaby, also addressed to Jacques Martin. In this letter written in May 1985, Philippe Delaby evokes his love for comics and asks how to make it his profession. "I am now twenty-four years old and for more than ten years I have been a fan of Alix" (...) "I would really like to work in drawing, it's my only ambition" (...). Philippe Delaby (1961-2014) is a Belgian cartoonist. He is best known for his work on the series Murena and La Complainte des moandes perdes / Set of 2 pieces.
