John Stewart. P., Verlhac, 2008, 4th oblong, 224 p., edited canvas, case (jaq. missing). Edition orig. 1/50 ex. of head, justified and signed by the artist, comprising 1 original black and white print (flyleaf, justified, dated and signed on the back). Armed with his first camera, John Stewart (1919-2017) meets Picasso, Matisse, Braque and Henri Cartier-Bresson. When he arrived in New York, he was hired by Harper's Bazaar, for whom he photographed Andy Warhol and Muhammad Ali, and then by Vogue, where he worked with Diana Vreeland, the editor-in-chief. In 1976, he returned to France and began personal work on black and white still lifes.
