BÉJART- KAYAERT (Robert). Superb set of 100 black and white silver prints (ca 1966) on baryta paper. Size : (100 x) 26 x 20 cm. Stamp on the back of some prints. Photographs of the dancers, in rehearsal and on stage, for the ballet "Roméo et Juliette" by Maurice Béjart. Some of the pictures show the meeting between the troupe, King Baudoin and Queen Fabiola after the performance. A few contact sheets from the same series are attached. Robert Kayaert (1920-2007) gained fame as a sports photographer, official photographer of Expo 58, the Queen Elisabeth Competition and the Béjart Ballets. The artistic encounter between the choreographer and the photographer is fusional. For twenty years Robert Kayaert wove the visual memory of the ballets of the 20th century.
