Second edition. The first volume closes a folding map of Greece of 1788. Minor defects if not beautiful decorative copy of this classic. The book was a huge success in France and abroad. To the point of being considered "the last great literary success of the 18th century". It contributed to the revival of neoclassicism and had many imitations throughout the 19th century.
