Attention lot of an exceptional originality, of an indisputable rarity.  "I lose too many moments in frivolous speeches: Actions are needed, not words. » Iphigenia, Racine. This lot is unique, exceptional and prodigious. The author, whose identity is not known, has done a monumental lifetime of work on Racine. Literary madman if ever there was one, his application in the collection of alphabetical occurrences of Racine is fabulously complete. Our anonymous author has made an inventory of the vocabulary words most frequently used by Racine in his plays, from the preposition "à" to "rustic", for a total of more than 2,000 word entries. The word "obey" is used a total of 66 times, and "amen" is used just once. This index shows the main themes of Racine's work. Power: this term alone occupies eighteen pages and is linked to "duty" (more than six pages).  Love is also present since it is through it that the knot of tragedy arrives. The family: the term "father" occupies more than five pages, "mother" two. We also find the great importance given to spouses and children. The divinity: God, gods and goddesses alone occupy almost ten pages, and the term "altar" linked to it occupies an entire page. The greatest figures are also mentioned: Berenice, Agamemnon, Esther, etc. The author probably bound these volumes himself and drew the boxes on each page that enabled him to glue the papers of the same size. He first wrote the word he wanted to index, then pasted it next to another where he wrote the verse in which the selected word can be found in all Racine's works. We have before us the inventor of "copy-paste"! 3 very strong volumes, In-folio, half-cup, split jaws, title piece in morocco, cord of attachment, rubbed edges and headdresses, S.l.n.d., 18th or 19th century.
