In black tortoiseshell, round in shape, decorated on the lid with a miniature portrait painted onivoire∆ representing Queen Marie-Antoinette as Diana the Huntress, preserved under curved glass in a gilded copper frame. Containing inside a handwritten note bearing the inscription: "Portrait of Marie-Antoinette dressed as Diana on the occasion of the celebrations given for the birth of the dolphin, painted by Loq(..)t in 1779".
Slight accidents, but good general condition.
French work, 18th century.
Height: 2 cm - Diameter: 8.5 cm.
Put back on sale under crazy auctions.
Provenance: former collection of Alain Bancel (1927-2002), then sale of his estate at Piasa Paris - May 21, 2003 under the number 283.
