WOODEN PTAH SOKAR OSIRIS
Egypt, Ptolemaic period
Stuccoed, painted and gilded wooden statue of the god standing on a rectangular base, the mummiform body adorned with a pectoral ousekh necklace. The head is topped by a tripartite wig whose upper part is strongly domed. The backs of the legs are inscribed with a column of hieroglyphs repeating the traditional hymn of Ptah Sokar Osiris.
The base is linearly decorated.
Lacunar crown, cavity at the back of the wig, waxed set, lacks of stucco and repainted.

An Egyptian wooden statue of Ptah Sokar Osiris, Ptolemaic Period
Intended to be deposited in tombs from the Late Period, the statuettes of Ptah Sokar Osiris contained in their bases or, as is the case with our copy, in a cavity dug in the statuette, a papyrus roll with the formulas of the Book to come out in the daytime to accompany the deceased in the other world.
