Wal was awarded the first prize in the printmaking competition at the 8th Triennial International Kochi Print Exhibition (2011) and has won prizes in many countries such as Japan, Taiwan, Russia, Canada, Thailand by printmaking technique.
After graduating in 2014, he transformed his home into a gallery and printmaking studio in the center of Bangkok. Then he became a full time artist in oil painting and mezzotint techniques.
Wal Chirachaisakul believes that people, especially in the current generation, are financially motivated and take this as a remedy for their misfortune in life. He very often uses a dark hue in his art to symbolize how far away these people are from enlightenment. The artist uses a gothic and surrealist approach that translates into a tense mood in order to better convey his message. He wants his works to be only an awareness of this alarming phenomenon that is coming down on us.
