Originally from Strasbourg, Albrecht Kauw moved to Bern after 1640 where he had a prolific career in both private castles and public buildings; his work consists of portraits, landscapes and still lifes. The still life that we present here is typical of his works, with the table occupying two thirds of the space, vegetables and game wisely arranged next to each other.
