There are several paintings by Victor Vignon located in Jouy-le-Comte and mentioned in various exhibitions notably in 1901 at the Galerie Georges Petit, in 1921 at the Galerie Bernheim and at the 8th impressionist exhibition in 1886. This work is most probably a second version of a painting of the same size dated 1886, which appeared in the catalogue of the Stumpf collection at number 85 and was sold to the Galerie Georges Petit on 7 May 1906.
