Nicolas de CRÉCY (born in 1966)
Editorial project in progress.
Inspired by his work on Japanese mythology, which he has explored in various editorial forms, Nicolas de Crécy brings to life here, with humour, a more specifically "French" variant of the Japanese monsters, the Yokai. This strange ghost that walks over the rooftops of Paris is emblematic of the artist's research and the atmospheres he loves, enhanced by a remarkable mastery of watercolour. This piece also underlines the quality of architectural drawing and the science that Nicolas de Crécy applies to grotesque characters, in the tradition of his masters (Utagawa Kuniyoshi or James Ensor).
