Strasser, Arthur Adelsberg, Carniola 1854 - 1927 Vienna, Austrian sculptor, designed among others for the Goldscheider'sche Porzellan Manufaktur and Majolika Factory. ''Marc Anton in the triumphal chariot'', E: 1896, A: Amphora Werke, Turn-Teplitz, early 20th century, grey sherd, glazed, decorated with gold and colour, the roman commander Marcus Antonius sitting in a chariot drawn by three lions, holding in his hand the line of another lioness, on rectangular base, this one marked by a letter "Marcus Anton". STRASSER =Vienna='', bottom pressed stamp of the Amphora Faience Turn under crown, additional stamp ''AUSTRIA'' and stamped no. ''49 38 6'', LxH: ca. 66/42,5 cm. Craquelée formation, signs of age, missing parts. Arthur Strasser created the plaster model in 1896, which was shown in Berlin and in Vienna at the Künstlerhaus Exhibition in the same year and was awarded a prize. A later life-size bronze cast was made for the Paris World Exhibition in 1900. Although it was initially only intended as a temporary installation site, it still stands today in the gardens next to the Secession building.
