Complete copy of the plan of Rome in two states and of the two grave frontispieces by Couche fils d'aprés Civeton (view of Saint Peter's Square and Trajan's column). ? The Strolls in Rome, by the accuracy of their observations and especially by the direct character of Stendhal's reflections, constitute one of the freest and most lively exposures of an always original thought of life ? (Laffont-Bompiani). Trace of light-coloured wetness at the head of the first volume, otherwise a very good copy in its decorative binding of the time. Provenance: count Frederic de Pourtales (ex-libris). Clouzot 151; Carteret Romantique II, 352; Vicaire, I, 455.
