TANG Haywen, (1927-1991)
Abstract composition
Ink on paper, diptych 100 x 70 cm
Provenance: Acquired at one of the artist's two studio sales in 1992 and kept since then in the same Parisian collection.
Abstract composition showing very rhythmic areas, saturated with sharp brushstrokes, fine or thick. The upper and lower parts are treated with, a very diluted ink, an ample brush that superimposes its passages and offers us vaporous and calm regions.
More secretive and less exposed than his peers Chu Teh Chun and Zao Wou-Ki, Tang Haywen remains one of the great ink masters of the second half of the 20th century. His institutional and academic recognition bears witness to this.
