TANG Haywen, 1927-1991)
Forest landscape, 1960s?
Watercolour on paper. 66 x 32 cm
The very figurative treatment as well as the format lead us to believe that it is an ancient work.
Beautiful fresh, dense greens and some rare and bold blue highlights.
More secretive and less exposed than his peers Chu Teh Chun and Zao Wou-Ki, Tang Haywen remains one of the great ink masters of the second half of the 20th century. His institutional and academic recognition bears witness to this.
Provenance: Acquired at one of the artist's two studio auctions in 1992 and since then kept in the same Parisian collection.
