Alberto GUZMAN (1927-2017) Untitled, after 1988 Ink on paper, 38x34 cm Red monogram AG and signed Guzmàn below right Provenance: Acquired from the artist and kept since then in the same Parisian collection. In his work as a sculptor the sphere, whole or decomposed, is the geometry that Guzmàn was most interested in. We find it quite naturally in his inks, often incomplete, fragmentary, partially occulted or repeated. It was perhaps the friendship between Zao Wou-Ki and Chu Teh Chun that linked these three artists that encouraged AG to paint with ink. The stays and official invitations he also made in Korea from the end of the 1980s also explain AG's attachment to and knowledge of oriental painting. In addition to his practice as a sculptor, AG has left behind a large production of inks. The Louvre Museum has two of them in its collection. Alberto Guzmàn is the greatest Peruvian sculptor of the 20th century who lived most of his life in France. His works are kept at the Peggy Guggenheim Foundation, Venice, Italy. Musée d'art moderne de la ville de Paris, National Gallery Oslo, Moran Museum Seoul, South Korea, Lowe Museum, Miami and in many museums in Latin America. Public works have also been produced in France, Korea, Norway, Peru, the United States and many Latin American countries.
