(1887-1966). Moon sand variant II. Etching on handmade paper, signed in pencil. Proofs from the discarded plate with plate tone, 1959. 37 : 27,5 cm. Arntz 404th - Originally created as an illustration for the collection of poems "Moonsand", Arp finally used only a part of the form (oval); the present sheet on the original state is the only one signed. A further, but unsigned print was in the artist's estate, Arntz mentions further unsigned copies with estate stamp. The signature of this sheet at the lower margin clarifies how Arp wanted the motif to be understood: the oval shape at the top (the other way round in Arntz reprod.). Arp wanted the plate tone removed. Manuscript by Margeuerite Arp at the margin, pencil, with instruction to the printer: "enlever le fond. For the result see the following. Cat.-Nr. The following condition print is signed on the opposite side; for better comparison of the form we reproduce the same.
