Copy Lucien-Grault, in gilded vellum at the time. Eleventh collective edition, partly original. The publisher integrates the "Recueil des Sonnets, Odes, Hymnes, Elégies, and other Pieces retrenchments from previous editions (...) with some others not printed cy in front" here in original. The title is engraved by Leonard Gautier and shows the bust of Ronsard crowned by Homer and Virgil, the sheet *VI verso includes the portrait of Muret and the famous portraits of Ronsard and Cassandra are on the sheet *VIII verso. In-folio (370 x 247 mm). Title engraved in first state (the nudity of Venus is not hidden by her hair), portrait of Muret and double portrait of Ronsard and Cassandra in medallion. Period binding: hard vellum, gilt laurel wreath in the centre of the covers, double fillet framing of the covers, smooth spine with gilt fillets and gilt irons on the spine, gilt edges, brown half-marocco case (brown leaves, wet spots and stitching, old restorations with engraved title and galleries of verses on the last leaves without damaging the text).
