Richly illustrated Bible, with all the hand-colored engravings in its contemporary stamped binding.
In-folio (380 x 235 mm). 140 woodcuts in the text, a large part signed in the plate by Virgil Solis. Ornate and historiated letters. The title pages, the engravings in the text and the historiated letters have all been coloured by hand (first title page glued on thicker paper, important lacks and restorations in the notebook *a, last leaves of the volume crumpled, freckles throughout the volume). Bound in contemporary German sowskin on wood spine, cold-stamped decoration, cabochons and central umbilicus on both covers (one cabochon is missing, another is incomplete), spine ribbed (redone with original spine parts added), clasps (one is missing). Provenance: old ex-libris on the first title page, partially crossed out.
