A Maghrebi Qur'an bifolio, Spain or North Africa, circa 12th/14th century, Qur'an LIII (sura al-najm), vv.51-58 and Qur'an LIV (sura al-qamar), vv.16-21, Arabic manuscript on vellum, each folio with five lines of elegant sepia maghribi script, verse markers in the form of clusters of three gold roundels, the upper roundel pointed at top, outlined in black with red and blue highlights, two khams markers in the form of gold ha, diacritics in sepia, vocalization in red and green, one 'ashr marker in the form of a palmette finely illluminated in gold and polychrome in the margin, with two other rounded illuminated marginal medallions, mounted, framed and glazed, text area 14 x 12.7cm.; folio 20.3 x 19cm.
