A gold Kufic Qur'an bifolio, North Africa or Near East, 9th/10th century, Qur'an XLVIII (sura al-fath), v.21-26 and Qur'an XLIX (sura al-hujrat), v.14 to Qur'an L (sura qaf), v.2, gold and black ink on vellum, each folio with 8ll. of gold kufic script outlined in sepia, verse markers in the form of three roundel clusters or pointed palmettes highlighted in orange and blue, sura headings in black, diacritics in sepia, mounted, framed and glazed, text area 6 x 9.5cm.; folio 8.2 x 12.1cm.
