Pierre BODO (1953-2015) Apocalypse 6:12-17, The Great Day, 1981 Oil on canvas recovery, signed, dated and titled lower right 98.5 x 88 cm Provenance : Collection Antonio Lanzas, Spain In the 1970s, Pierre Bodo was the initiator of Zairean popular painting and one of the main figures, if not the charismatic figure, along with Moke and Chéri Samba, of this Association of Popular Artists of Kinshasa, who painted what she saw: the daily life of the street, the political, economic and social situation of the country. In 1980, he converted to Christianity, joined the Pentecostal Church and became one of the most fervent pastors of "World Evangelization", convinced of a revolution in his life. At the beginning of the 90s, Pastor Bodo considerably improved his style in order to express his personal ideas. He then treats fantastic or symbolic subjects which are in perfect harmony with his artistic projects and his belief.
