SPINEL AND PARGASITE ON MATRIX Luc Yen, Yenbai Province, Vietnam H. 35.5 in - W. 18.5 in This towering mass of snowy white crystalline marble is studded with many crystals of deep lime green prismatic crystals of pargasite as well as numerous octahedral crystals of bright red spinel. The gem crystals have been carefully exposed by Vietnamese hand carvers who slowly chipped away at the marble, carefully cleaning each crystal in situ, while aesthetically shaping the marble matrix as well. The contrast of the rich gem colors of green and red against the sparkling white marble is striking. Measuring 41 ¼ inches high (105 cm) on its custom wooden base.
