There are several autograph versions of this composition, the first of which was exhibited at the 1704 salon
(Booklet p. 41, note 2, addition of the 3rd edition, Paris, ed. Liepmannssohn and Dufour, 1869).
There is an anonymous and undated engraving of the time, published in Paris by Diacre, accompanied by a
tasty quatrain:
Isabeau qui n'est pas friande,
Fait son régal avec des choux,
Et garde sa graisse et sa viande,
Pour quand elle aura un époux
There is also another engraving of the painting, published when one of the versions was part of
Monsieur Poulain's cabinet.
