THE SECRET Painting on canvas
79 x 64 cm
Dressed in a French dress with shimmering green silk satin stripes, a young woman lends her ear to the confidences of a young man. A fleeting and intimate moment, this 19th century genre scene faithfully retranscribes the libertine atmosphere at the time of Crébillon fils and
Choderlos de Laclos. A pupil of Paul Delaroche (1797- 1856), Henri Sieurac exhibited at the Salon between 1848 and 1863.
Some of his works are today in the collections of national museums (Aix, Dijon, Toulouse...).
