Bouteille, 1843. 2 vol. grand in-8, 416 pp., 37 p.; 358 pp., 1 tabl., 35 p. Half green maroon, smooth spines decorated with romantic gilt bird irons (contemporary binding). Very complete with Victor Cassien's fine and elegant plates: the 300 subjects represent, in 72 plates, one specimen of each of the described species. 1 large folding board. Qqs small rubbed; 2 disjointed plates. A fine, freckles-free copy of this rare and sought-after work. The pharmacist Hippolyte Bouteille (1804-1881) became curator of the Natural History Museum of Grenoble. He created the Alpine Acclimatization Society and the Acclimatization Garden of Grenoble.
