Women's football: France-England - 1920 © Collections L'Équipe 31 October 1920. After their tour across the Channel in April, the French footballers (in white) receive the English at the Pershing stadium in front of 10,000 spectators. "Success of curiosity", notes the newspaper "Excelsior", which could become a "success of interest" provided that these ladies avoid the "brutal and dry" game: "They will only win their cause if they show themselves to be perfectly sporting".
