Signed "Camoin"" at lower left, at the back side old sticker of the gallery Dr. Raeber, Basel with artist's name and title "Am Bois de Boulogne. 1910“. In gilded frame. The painting refers to the named forest and park in the west of Paris. View over a lake there to the magnificent park with numerous different shrub and tree species, in fresh bright colours, which are reflected in the calm water. The sun illuminates the landscape under a high light blue sky with white clouds and puts the observer in a summery mood. The colours are partly applied with broad short brush strokes in many different shades. The painter concentrated on the suggestive interpretation of the coloring. Note: The French painter is assigned to the circle of the Fauves. He went to Paris in 1896 and studied there in the studio of Gustave Moreau (1826-1898), where he also met Albert Marquet (1875-1947). In 1902 he made the acquaintance of Cézanne (1839-1906). Although he joined the Fauves, he was not a convinced Fauvist.
