Maurice de Vlaminck, 1876 Paris - 1958 Rueil-la-Gadelière FLEURS Oil on canvas. 72.6 × 53.5 cm. Signed "Vlaminck" at lower right. In a baroque gilded frame with textile passepartout cut-out. The authenticity of the work has been confirmed by the Wildenstein Institute, Paris, September 27, 2013 The work will be included in the Catalogue critique des peintures, dessins et céramiques de Maurice de Vlaminck. A round tabletop vaulting into the depths of the picture, on top of which a club vase with a not very protruding, discreet bouquet of flowers, whose blossoms are in harmony in their meaning with the background shimmering in various shades of green, blue and white, which serves as a foil. For de Vlaminck comparatively light composition. Important French painter of modernism in the circle of French artists, who worked mainly in close friendship with André Derain (1880-1954) and initiated the emergence of Fauvism. As a post-impressionist, he was at times advised by the gallery owner Daniel-Henry Kahnweiler. 1955 Participant of documenta 1 in Kassel. 2008 Appreciation of his works through an exhibition at the Musée du Luxembourg in Paris.
